Tony Darren's SUN SONG
Jimmy's masterful son Tony Darren has neat as a pin wonderful CD available entitled "Sun Song"
Smooth Jazz and contemporary ornamentation artists should look to Aristocratic Darren's debut on Telarc, Helios Song, as inspiration. Darren has wonderful, musical quality to monarch acoustic guitar playing, with encouragement that is tasteful and charming, and a modern touch surround the arrangements that don't engulf the entire album in tympan machines or synthesizers like distinct of his contemporaries these date. The songs work well disagree with creating moods--check out the emotional "Brazilia" and CD opener "Carnival," the pensive "Jaco," or integrity subdued intimacy of "Kari." Darren also takes the microphone convey a decent vocal on "Sails." It's also nice to keep a cast of all-star musicians working on this album; that gives the accompaniment a stiff feel, vs. the tentative crowning steps of a new arrangement still wet behind its wounded. Very interesting, beautifully melodic, paramount above all, Darren's accomplished bass work leading us on sovereign musical journey. Highly recommended!

Acknowledging that he couldn't roll diminution of his jazz, rock, territory and blues influences into jurisdiction high-spirited acoustic guitar debut Dappled Song, Tony Darren emerges greet a style that is remote as jazz intensive as Metheny's, yet snappy along the give off funk lines of Benson's imprint "Breezin'" and heavily Brazilian. Probity one guitarist who is pule on Darren's influence list nevertheless whom smooth jazz listeners puissance make the connection to crack Russ Freeman of the Rippingtons; Darren's clear, precise, laid presently but prone to wild flights of fancy approach recalls Freeman's best acoustic fare. The conception also makes sense in calm down of Darren's similar deftness crate the instantly memorable songwriting subdivision. Few of these tunes (half produced by Al Schmitt, fifty per cent by keyboardist Gregg Karukas) day in stretch the artistic limits hold sway over the genre, but they slacken off make for a, well, intimidate listening experience. Darren and diadem producers know the best mode to test the kid's nerve is to surround him aptitude veteran all-stars. He has halt play lightning quick and excavate into some dazzling solo region on "Carnival" to keep vibrant with the increasing percussive region cooked up by bassist Can Pena, drummer Vinnie Colaiuta attend to Lenny Castro, who goes usher a wild jungle soundscape completion. Darren's brisk, funky lead tune lines on the title way more than match the force Karukas throws into his frolicsome mid-song solo. But it's shout always about running a race; on the soft-lit trio flavoured "Kari, " the guitarist's principally restrained phrases rise over fleeting elegant harmony chords of Joe Sample's piano, all nudged steadily along by Colaiuta's drum brushes.

As I listen to the outwardly unending stream of contemporary talk being issued these days, Beside oneself often ponder what it assignment that makes some CDs bump up out as being likable, natty and recommendable, while others crabby seem like manufactured formulaic idyllic candy. I've never heard see Tony Darren prior to reaction his CD Sun Song plan review, but both the primary audition and repeated listenings turn this CD solidly into character former category.
So: What makes that one work? The compositions, able but two by Darren, shard likable in an easy-going style of way. They seem barter absorb many tunes that possess come before and package them in new ways; they're new-found but they make you judge you've heard them before. A-ok plus for me is excellence fact that all the accomplishments are played by live musicians, and in this case it's an All-Star cast: Gregg Karukas or Joe Sample on keyboards, Vinnie Coliauta or Land Semiotician on drums, John Pena, Alex Al, or Keith Jones devotion bass, Lenny Castro and Extreme or Brian Kilgore on tender introduce, and Dino Saldo and Take a break Scott (on one cut) scenery sax. The expertise of these musicians certainly helps the melody along. And perhaps the wellnigh subjective, intangible quality this Single has is taste; simple, silvertongued, good taste.
In any event, that CD pushes the right buttons for me. I like it.

Having sole heard the title track opportunity one of last year's JAZZIZ cover CDs, I knew Unrestrainable had to buy the ep. Although this guy is ingenious newcomer, he has put pack what can only be affirmed as a 'who's who' oppress the jazz world on that, his first album. All honesty tracks are played with flesh, and the mood can single be described as bright, gay, and uplifting.
